British blues rocker dead at 70

Joe Cocker, the fabulous British soul rock vocalist referred to for such hits as You Are So Beautiful and his 1968 spread of the Beatles' With a Little Help from My Friends, has kicked the bucket at age 70, his operators says.

BBC reported Monday that Barrie Marshall affirmed Cocker's passing.

The Sheffield-conceived musical performer passed on after a "hard-battled fight with little cell lung malignancy," said his record name, Sony.

Known for his gravelly voice and appealling stage exhibitions, Cocker shot to distinction in the 1960s when his adaptation of With a Little Help From My Friends made it to No. 1 on the graphs. The tune was discharged by the Beatles in 1967 on their discriminatingly acclaimed Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band studio collection.
